Finally came! And then I noticed this…. Right out of the box…. Now what? The thought of having to pack it all back up and send back for a new one makes me want to scream.
It’s a deep scratch that would piss me off. Although it probably wouldn’t affect functionality, I’d expect better quality control when paying a few thousands for a bike.

You can send it back, or accept a small credit and some spot paint

How does that even happen during transport?

Shit, was it the chain?

Wondering if that’s a return and this was missed. That doesn’t look like the chain just came off in the box, that damage looks like proper chain drop under load. I’d expect maybe some scratches if the chain was off and resting there but not that deep gouge.

I had the same exact thing on mine when it got delivered. They just recommended some places that could get it fixed.

I’d check below the bottom bracket qnd make sure it didn’t touch any carbon layers.

Like others said, it’s most likely from a previous chain drop. Return it if you feel uncomfortable.

You are the unlucky recipient of a frame mail order bike companies knowingly send out marked. They hope it will stick by giving you some compensation. It works for companies like Canyon due to the hassle involved sending bikes back. Another classic is fitting a wrong part as they don’t have the right one in stock and they want the bike out the door.

Send it back and don’t buy a canyon ever again. Worst customer service ever.

If you bought this new id be pissed. Outlet or repurposed and it wasn’t mentioned credit could be accepted.
Contact canyon and see

I wonder what the hell is going on with canyon.
