Someone gifted me a bike that had been in storage. I am not familiar with bikes at all .. it looks like something is wrong with chainring, right?
Previous owner said it rides fine but wanted to check with y'all. Looks to me like it's separating? Is this repairable?

There have been issues – and a recall – with Shimano cranks of this vintage. Take it to a bike shop and have them inspect it.
Not seperating, but the “wrong” chainring is installed
You have an ultegra 6800 (older 11s) crank, with an ultegra r8000 (newer 11s) chainring. It’ll probably work just fine, but aesthetic they are different, and creates the gaps you’re seeing where the chainring meets the crank
Looks like different generations of Ultegra to me
Looks alright, except the crank arm and the chainring are not of the same batch/series.
Different series of ultegra, few years between them. Apart from looks, it is completely fine.
Crank and chainring are from different generations of Ultegra. Cosmetic issue, not fixable.
Functionally it’s fine but it’s a 6800 series crank and an 8000 series chainring, both 11 speed but different generations.

That looks very much like a recalled Hollowtech II crank. Please get it inspected at a Trek dealer ASAP.
you’ll be fine, it’s only aesthetic
Your chain is stretched and needs replacing
Wrong chainring, or wrong crank. Pick one!
