  1. There have been issues – and a recall – with Shimano cranks of this vintage. Take it to a bike shop and have them inspect it.

  2. Not seperating, but the “wrong” chainring is installed

    You have an ultegra 6800 (older 11s) crank, with an ultegra r8000 (newer 11s) chainring. It’ll probably work just fine, but aesthetic they are different, and creates the gaps you’re seeing where the chainring meets the crank

    Looks alright, except the crank arm and the chainring are not of the same batch/series.

  4. Different series of ultegra, few years between them. Apart from looks, it is completely fine.

  5. Crank and chainring are from different generations of Ultegra. Cosmetic issue, not fixable.

    Functionally it’s fine but it’s a 6800 series crank and an 8000 series chainring, both 11 speed but different generations.

    That looks very much like a recalled Hollowtech II crank. Please get it inspected at a Trek dealer ASAP.
