I love this bike but also had some gripes with the previous owner; making me more intrigued to see everyone else shares the same gripes:
1) people cutting the steerer so low it can't be adjusted. Now I have to source quite a high rise bar
2) prior owners being allergic to grease. It took 2/3weeks to replace the seized seatpost and bottom bracket

Cool bike (and paint) tho!
1. it looks like they left a bit of space there? But it’s pretty normal to cut the fork steerer to the height that you want it
2. Yeah that’s annoying I guess, it do just be like that sometime tho
People that beat in Headset cups are the worse. Had to throw away a couple good GT frames.
Kickstands! I have bought some absolutely mint 90s mtb and hybrids that would have been pristine if it weren’t for hastily installed aftermarket kickstands. They chip the paint, dent the CS tubes, and tend to be the first things to rust into place even when the bike is well cared for.
The good thing with stuck seatposts and cut steerers is that this can be checked easily before and helps to negotiate a lower price. 🙂
The bb isn’t so easy to check before buying though…
Probably crossed threaded bottom bracket shells or cranks. Everything else can be manually or visually be checked when buying.
Thirdhand mechanic work.
You could get the 50mm 50mm rise stems. Shouldn’t be as expensive as the riser version of those bars.
