    I had trouble with those fenders also, even when I had adjusted the fender stays there wasn’t sufficient clearance under the fender, not helped by having 40mm tyres, I don’t want to go for smaller tyres so I’ve abandoned the project for now.

  2. Trim them down. The neatest method I found was using a small adjustable pipe cutter, gradually tighten and turn around the rods. It’ll take a few tries but it’ll eventually cut through enough you can then just break the rods at the groove.

    Cut them, or i often just bend them outwards abit. This slight bend can easy account for extra inch and make it snug fit around the wheel.
