Friday afternoon, everybody is going home from whatever they did this very sunny and warm Friday, the 21st February 2025. This is the main east-west cycle route of Utrecht very close to Utrecht central railway station.
No helmets, no drop bars, no Lycra, no clipped pedals. And if your cycling population is dominated by fit males in the 18 to 35 age bracket, you don’t really have a cycling culture.
It took the netherlands over 50 years to let go of privelege cars in the cities And chosed for slow traffic, pedestrians and bicycles, to make the city centre livable again
My wife is south african, moved to the netherlands and learned cycling here. This junction is the big test, if you can handle this spot in rush hour you are a proper city cyclist. ( the video is not shot at rush hour ).
As a blind person who has been living in utrecht for the last year the bikes are much better than cars for blind people walking around. I have been crossing this street for a year almost every day and never felt in danger in this part ever.
Only Dutch people. You never see an immigrant on a bicycle. 1. They have no bicycles in their countries so they don't know how to do. 2. They see bicycles as a children's tool, not a vehicle for adults.

This is pro-mobility. Not anti-car. How to move hundreds of people across an intersection in all directions in a minute.
Bikes collide and the ground is very hard. People should wear helmets
Home❤
Doug Ford is asking where the cars are supposed to park.
As a British cyclist I'd like to claim asylum in the Netherlands. The UK is a hostile environment.
This is what being enlightened looks like.
I cycled through this intersection a bunch when I was in Utrecht the other day. It was nice.
Cycling with two bags on handlebar and a cup of coffee in one hand! Oh, that’s nice 😊

All upright bikes! Not a single mountain bike nor sports bike! This is real biking.

So many interesting things going on here! 😮
Imagine if all these people were using cars, that street would be a fucking mess
Very cool

Typical People on fatbike😂
The number of cyclists I see here in this 30sec clip is less than the number of cyclists I see an entire month in my city😂
Smart and modern world
This is why you don't get drunk furing the day over here, like literally 😅
Not a square inch of Lycra in sight. Looks like cycling is not just for athletes.
I love bicycles
