Spike’s a little out of my price range. Can I get a discount? Oh, you want a discount? Okay, let me see what I can do about that. Hey, dude. What’s up? I’m docking your pay 50%. That dude needs a discount. What? My wife’s pregnant. It’s cool. You’re doing great work though. Hey sweetie, it’s Top Ramen for the next month because that guy needs a discount. Dude, why is it so hot in here? Because that guy needs a discount. That guy? That’s the guy. I got your discount. 20% off. That’s it. What if I pay cash?

  1. Bike shops that have such a low profit margin have to realize. Consumers can always build a high quality Chinese E-MTB from AliExpress to compete against AMFLOW. Then just upgrade parts when they have some cash. Never buy from small shops always go corporate.

  2. My LBS will pricematch anything i can drive to and buy within 100 miles. Theyve got a $700 dirt jumper that theyd sell to me for $450. I like them though, so ill let someone else that doesnt know this pay them full price. I already line their pockets by constantly breaking derailleurs and being too stupid to fix it myself. Ive spent 20 hours tinkering with a shimano deore groupset and still cant get it indexed correctly😂

  3. I can only speak from my own experience in the industry. But there's a pretty good profit margin. In my country, all the dealers are happy to write leasing contracts at the recommended retail price. As soon as the price expires, there's no service in the store. If you didn't buy it in-store, there's basically no service anyway. Retail often offers really poor value for money. I've drawn my conclusions: I buy my stuff online and only buy technology that's easy to maintain. It's a shame; I'd rather buy it locally and have it serviced.

  4. Does the grocery store give discounts? Nope.
Does the auto mechanic give discounts? Not usually.
Can you get concert tickets if you ask for a discount?
Do restaurants give you a discount?
    Doctors?
Why is it when it comes to our toys everyone expects a discount?
All you online shoppers are hilarious.
Especially when you try to warranty your online purchases at the LBS. Hahahaha

  5. Maybe I just am the only person who works in a shop that doesn’t up charge but like, the shops can’t help how much things cost??? We sell everything as MSRP and price match manufacturer sales, if we dropped prices not only would the margins be insanely low it’d cause issues for other local shops. Blame the big bike companies, not your LBS!!

  6. I don’t know what you or your shop is trying to accomplish with this video; to me, this video makes you come across like a colossal whiney douche.

I might suggest a different approach.

  7. This is just bad sales tactics, Cross sell to your higher markup stuff instead to give the illusion of discount. "Look I can't do discount on the bike, but I can sure do discounts on things you need to go with the bike"
