a black Sharpie (or Micron or Posca…) will coat better than nail polish. If you don’t like it, you’d still want sharpie under it for color hide.

Nail polish is a pretty decent idea actually. I’d probably try automotive touch-up paint since it will likely be more durable.

Personally I would fully disassemble it and completely re paint it but yes nail polish should work just take some red scotch Brite and getting all the crud off

Even better is a product called Aluminum Black. That’s what we use in the shop to cover up little accidents like this. One bottle will last a home mech a lifetime.
