I’m working on a new-to-me Moots Vamoots that I think is from 2014. I’ve never owned a titanium bike before and this is also my first time working with a carbon fork. It pretty much needs everything and it’s a little more than a frame set and wheels.

Does Moots use different recessed brake nuts? I’m trying to install a set of Cane Creek 200sl brake calipers but the nuts don’t fit. The nut in the front is too narrow, and the nut in the back is too long.

I took some measurements (drawing shown in that last pic) and hopefully you all can shed some light here! Much appreciated!

It’s Cane Creek which is using the oddly shaped nuts, with oversized heads. Everything about the bike is normal, and any bike shop will have a bin of the correct nuts for you to choose from.

  2. Any bike I’ve worked on, the ‘nut’ was slim enough to drop into the recess. I’d suggest a different fixing.
