My 2025 Trek Checkpoint has a SRAM 1×12 drivetrain.
I am upgrading to 13 speed cassette and new Red crank/chainring in the front. I’m debating staying with the 40T chainring versus going to 42T chainring.
You can see my data from 3 different rides pictured. (They range between 22 and 28 miles).
I feel like I barely use the easiest gear so I ordered a 42T chainring. Based on this data do you agree that the 42T makes sense over the 40T? I’m in Charlotte. Moderate hilliness. Thanks!

You’ll be good to go with a 42T based on this information.
If you want to move up one cog to the 17 you do the math (40/15)*17 = 45.3, so you need at least a 45 to move up a cog. A 42 won’t do much
I moved over to an 44t
