    Look like the headset needs a special tool but see if you can put a screwdriver or something long and thin into the grooves to get it off.

  2. You might be able to use a cone wrench across the slots on the lock ring. Or a hook spanner grabbing one of the slots.

    I imagine there is a real tool for that, though.

    I would ask at your local bike shop. Or make one yourself from a box spanner – drill 2 holes at the right height put screwdriver through holes (I’m in the UK so not sure what you call a box spanner over there).

  4. You could easily engage to two notches with the edge of a piece of bar stock, and turn counterclockwise (probably).
