I bought a restored 1970s Schwinn. I can’t seem to find a brake that will work on the front here. Bike is a fixed gear, so only need the front.
Anyone have any suggestions on a brake that will work?

Possibly a Tektro R559. That’s a smaller wheel than the frame/fork was designed for.
Is that a 650b wheel on a 27” frame or something? Wheel just looks too small
Chances are that’s only a hole for a mudguard.
Clearance is way too large.
That painted rim is not intended to support a brake. It was probably a coaster brake bike by design.
You no don’t need no stinking brakes! Just lock up the rear wheel and slide it all over the bike lane to show your contempt for safety gear! FIXIES UNITE!!! /s
There have got to be pictures of old Schwinn bikes that you can refer to for your answer. That being said, I had an old Schwinn clunker, a Stingray chopper, that had only one brake, and it was a shitty one at that. I added a Sturmey Archer drum brake to the front. It was OK, the main problem being that the feel of the front drum and the rear v-brake were so different, I didn’t like it. It did work though. Something to consider.
