In this evenings video we do some voluntary work with the @canalrivertrust We are in Sheffield tackling a menacing Buddleia bush. Buddleia is an invasive species in the UK and Britains canal provides a thriving environment for it. So we set off on the Sheffield and Tinsley canal to do our voluntry work. If you want to get involved in this kind of work be it gardening, pruning or Lock keeping you can look at the Canal River Trust website for more details. Get our enjoying Britains canal network

  1. Much respect for the CRT. It's unfortunate that they're responsible for so much of the repair and upkeep with so little assistance from the government.
The canals are a beautiful piece of the country's history and heritage. Just seems a losing battle trying to do so much with volunteers.

  2. aw, Marcus looks like a cute Russian boy with that hat! You can tell he's not Russian though, he's not perpetually and deliberately kept depressed and angry because of his (Russia's) toxic government.
Oh my… Marcus' hair issue reminds me of the Budgie song, 'The Rape of the Locks', even though that one's about canals.

  3. Well this is different! War on a Buddleia bush! What a great organisation to volunteer with. Our canals are a part of our great British history and even though very few if any still move goods, it's a wonderful leisure resource. That was a job well done, and I could see it was quite therapeutic. I'm glad you had a decent brew on hand with some grade A biscuits. It was quite a change seeing you all floating on water and not crouched over sloshing through it. Lovely video guys, I really enjoyed it!

  4. My wife and I plan to hire or go on a trip down a UK canal next time we come over there, good job they never got rid of them thinking they would never need them anymore after trains and motorways. Watched a few people that travel the canals in their boats, looks like a great way to enjoy some pubs and restaurants while seeing places.

  5. I am at odds with this simply because some paid employees of the CRT are paid six figure salaries and contractors procurement contracts are obscenely over priced.
Otherwise hats off to those who volunteered
