  1. Good info. I've watched Top Gear since Jeremy looked human and Chi's Harris since back when he had hair. Neither ever explained it that way. Well done.

  2. I have new but very cheap Chinese tyres on a Lexus (put on by dealer when I bought it last month) and I don’t think they are very good. Grip okay, handle okay but even though they are balanced, the steering wheel doesn’t shake or anything (the usual response with badly balanced wheels), I just get a mild vibration sensation through the steering wheel (its like im feeling EVERYTHING from the surface as the wheels go round, as if the tyre tread or compound is crap quality or something). It’s really off putting and spoils the enjoyment. Im going get balancing done again, maybe swap rears for the fronts, see if it makes any difference. Had same issue on a Ford Fiesta years ago when I got two new budget front tyres. I could feel everything from the road (even what look like smooth surfaces) transferring through to the steering wheel yet I never got that with the original tyres. Im hoping it’s the fact they are cheap and maybe not as precisely engineered that is the cause. Everything else on the car is spot on (suspension, all that jazz etc). Be interesting your thoughts.

  3. Thanks! You channel is the best! I have a question if anyone knows the answer. besides difference in overall diameter, is it ok to fit a 235/45R17 on a 7,5 wide rim or should I stay with 225/50R17? I drive all season all year round in south Sweden. Jaguar S type. Sometimes like a hooligan, mostly normal driving.

  4. That doesnt prove anything, the difference is in the composition of the tyre ( the chemistry of rubber).
Actually that softer michelin is a good indication that is better on wet road than the other, and the stiffer one maybe a little better at longevity.
What really matter is the pressure of the tyre regarding handling, and not hand pushing 😂

  5. Are the track tyres tougher against pot holes? My Goodyear F1 sport plus 235/35- R19 on my S3 have just failed the MOT for compromised inside walls. So not kerbs but likely pot hole damage. These are the first super low profile wheels and tyres that I’ve had. Are they more susceptible to pot hole damage?

  6. A smart tire shop once told me never to squeeze or throw a tire that is not on the rime and is deflated, especially if you want to put it on a performance car , because it's impossible to balance it properly afterwards.

  7. I ran extreme summer tire once and man o god the dry performance was like putting on new coilovers and a rear sway bar on the car. Thing is, once it rains your car is hella slippery lol
