Why pick up just one new sport when you could pick up three instead? #triathlon #howmuchitcost #whatitcost #whatispent #howmuchispent #triathlete #swimbikerun #running #money #spending
That number was significantly lower than I expected (although, I suppose he totally unsuitable bike made all the difference. That's where most of the money goes normally)
You overpaid for the swim cap. Or maybe I just got a great deal. Paid $4 for a Michael Phelps swim cap. But I only saw that price once. Now they're like $50. I am just surprised you paid more for the cap than the goggles. That should not be.
As a cyclist please spend more then 22$ on a helmet. Protecting your head is very important. Personally helmets costing 200 for me make sense because itโs my main sport. For starting out Iโd look at the 100 range +/- 20. You wonโt regret buying a nice helmet if you end up hitting your head
Lmao 16 for some latex that is a swim cap and some laces but weโre spending 20 bucks on the helmet youโre budgets in the wrong places. Also learn to fix youโre bike youโll save a lot of money
Imagine buying a bike and spending $100 to get the chain lubed up and then realize the bike is too big for u? Is that the most "strong independent woman" crap ever or what ๐
If you are throwing all that gear away after the race than you are accurate about that cost. I would say you can use most of that stuff on multiple races and trainings bringing the cost per race down significantly. But itโs kind of cool you are showing your expenses for your first triathlon.
Could I have the old bike? I have always wanted to compete in a race or just take some of the tracks in my town but my old bike is broken and isn't suit for bike racing and If you're not going to use the bike Id be happy to take it off your hands
Awesome work spending wisely. Iโve helped out the last three Sacramento Ironmans. The high end bikes were $14,000. One racer I transported spent $700 just for a rental bike for the weekend.
Unless you are competing for the win simply finishing is such an accomplishment.
Personally think the most important thing with gear is to make sure itโs comfortable and non chafing โbeforeโ the race. Key word chafing.
Whoever sold you that bike either didn't care, or didn't know, but that bike is going to be too big on most guys. Glad you were able to find a smaller bike. Comfort/fit over everything.
Please spend more than 22$ on a helmet. Your life is worth the extra 30-40 for a helmet with mips. As a bike shop employee, we will not sell a helmet without mips because they do little to actually protect your brain. You can find mips helmets for only about 60$.
Awesome! But please do yourself and your brain a favor and get yourself a nicer helmet with mips. Trust me and the others in the comments. An extra $50 might seem like a lot, but saving your brain is 100% worth it. Crashes WILL happen

Sorry, but you look hopelessly underprepared for the bikepart.

my kit is like 20+k lol itโs actually bad
competition is the circus w/ no bread. housing is a human right.

90 percent of these items are unnecessary…
You spent $96.40 for your first triathlon. $422.46 is dispersed amongst the number of triathlons for which you use that equipment.
Invest in and research a good helmet!!! Just banged mine up the other day and was so glad I had mips
You have to pay to swim and shit, helll no. You couldnโt pay me to swim. (This is coming from an all season surfer)
1. All about the participation bling 2. Not about winning, but about not being last in your category๐
You forgot the time and cost for training and food.

for $518 I'd just stick with a nice bike and have myself a healthy mode of transportation with fun weekend rides. But hey, you do you!
You paid for a Brazilian wax, unless your bush was nasty
Thanks for the transparency!

tune up: 100

Hi Margaret!!! Donโt know if you remember me but thatโs me running across the swim start line ๐

I just signed up for my first one lastnight and now feeling better Iโm not the only one who doesnโt have anything starting out haha
You did well as far as your expenses go . Hopefully you enjoyed your race .

Thank you for the cost breakdown! I am wanting to save for my first!
Shame on that bike shop for tuning something you shouldnโt be on safety
-buy a better helmet.
Wow you go girl ๐
Me sitting in a 2,5k bike not using because it is to cold for me and still being fucking slow even with a aero bike
Then Im here with a 1365.94 euro bike
$22 for the helmet?! Donโt skimp on the helmet.
we need more ppl like you not youtuber talking about 7k bikes only
A helmet for $22? Does it have a sticker that says not designed for crashes? Yikes
Lรก fica 500 dรณlares. No Brasil, mesmo comprando tudo usado, nรฃo sai menos de 15 mil reais ๐ข
you can use a rental bike for race? is the shop allow that?
