  1. That number was significantly lower than I expected (although, I suppose he totally unsuitable bike made all the difference. That's where most of the money goes normally)

  2. You overpaid for the swim cap. Or maybe I just got a great deal. Paid $4 for a Michael Phelps swim cap. But I only saw that price once. Now they're like $50.
I am just surprised you paid more for the cap than the goggles. That should not be.

  3. As a cyclist please spend more then 22$ on a helmet. Protecting your head is very important. Personally helmets costing 200 for me make sense because itโ€™s my main sport. For starting out Iโ€™d look at the 100 range +/- 20. You wonโ€™t regret buying a nice helmet if you end up hitting your head

  4. Lmao 16 for some latex that is a swim cap and some laces but weโ€™re spending 20 bucks on the helmet youโ€™re budgets in the wrong places. Also learn to fix youโ€™re bike youโ€™ll save a lot of money

  5. Imagine buying a bike and spending $100 to get the chain lubed up and then realize the bike is too big for u? Is that the most "strong independent woman" crap ever or what ๐Ÿ˜‚

  6. Congrats ๐ŸŽ‰ & goodluck ๐Ÿ‘beautiful! Stay AWESOME & super blessed๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ on all your ๐Ÿ‘ฃ journeys in lifeโฃ๏ธ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

  7. If you are throwing all that gear away after the race than you are accurate about that cost. I would say you can use most of that stuff on multiple races and trainings bringing the cost per race down significantly. But itโ€™s kind of cool you are showing your expenses for your first triathlon.

  8. Could I have the old bike? I have always wanted to compete in a race or just take some of the tracks in my town but my old bike is broken and isn't suit for bike racing and If you're not going to use the bike Id be happy to take it off your hands

  9. Awesome work spending wisely. Iโ€™ve helped out the last three Sacramento Ironmans. The high end bikes were $14,000. One racer I transported spent $700 just for a rental bike for the weekend.

Unless you are competing for the win simply finishing is such an accomplishment.

Personally think the most important thing with gear is to make sure itโ€™s comfortable and non chafing โ€œbeforeโ€ the race. Key word chafing.

  10. Whoever sold you that bike either didn't care, or didn't know, but that bike is going to be too big on most guys. Glad you were able to find a smaller bike. Comfort/fit over everything.

  11. Please spend more than 22$ on a helmet. Your life is worth the extra 30-40 for a helmet with mips. As a bike shop employee, we will not sell a helmet without mips because they do little to actually protect your brain. You can find mips helmets for only about 60$.

  12. Awesome! But please do yourself and your brain a favor and get yourself a nicer helmet with mips. Trust me and the others in the comments. An extra $50 might seem like a lot, but saving your brain is 100% worth it. Crashes WILL happen
