I needed to get to Amsterdam + love an adventure = The title of the video.
As always I’m a big fan of budget travel, I brought a tent a gas cooker and set off on this adventure from London to Amsterdam. Camping in places maybe I shouldn’t have, eating lots of pot noodle and crossing borders. This is my 6 day trip (5 day cycle) and first time solo bike-packing, Enjoy!

This was quite the adventure! As soon as i saw the border related graffiti i knew it might be a sketchy spot but didn't expect Police patrols. Great video, glad i found your channel.
That sleeping spot near Calais was very brave haha.
Great to watch such an adventure!
Did you have to deal with many hills?
Super nice video!
Where is the reflective jacket from😅?
The cycling lanes in Belgium and Netherlands are next level. Sick journey mate!!
This is truly amazing, you're such an inspiration to me man ❤
Great video, even greater adventure! Keep up the good work
Super cool
Great video mate! Proper trek that. Well done👊
Nice vid, might be worth taking over night ferries in the future to avoid having to stay by crossing points.
Thanks for the video, it brought back memories! I did London to Rotterdam this summer along much the same route, but being old stayed in hotels.. in Holland a receptionist asked where I was headed the next day, and when I said Rotterdam without missing a beat she said, "Oh there'll be a headwind I'm afraid" You don't get that kind of service in England!
I also took the Dunkirk ferry rather Calais, so missed any of the problems there..
i cycled this trip/route to bruges for a pint at the end of this summer and after watching this i feel to go again. well done though i know how hard it is to get the miles in everyday and sleeping in sketchy spots.
A lightweight tarp would come in handy 😁
It's like watching a thriller Ruben . You had me on the edge of my seat.
Loved it – thank you xxxx
Big hug, Nana xxxxx
Cool video Ruben, nice to see this one take off a bit. You deserve it! Keep up the good work.
Need a tarpaulin as well 👍
so wonderful beautiful video Ruben i love it see so nice
Creepy night in that bunker! I wouldn't have stayed there i know that for sure.
Great trip, but that sleeping spot in France was sketchy! Also it's a shame you didn't ride the coast-route through the dunes in Holland. That's one of the best bike paths in the country
dude after watching this I'm on komoot rerouting my trip planed for next year (hook of holland to le mont saint michel) I was wondering about migrant routs thru calais and where to camp, this year while in Germany camping wild I had wild boar screaming and running past my tent all night,….Id rather that any night 😅😬.
Hell yeah. I was planning to do this ride in the spring when it gets warmer (minus the camping maybe)
Great video, what an experience! Scary night in Calais though! What do you use to animate the map showing the distances?
Hi Ruben, great film. I've had a look around those Bunkers, unfortunately you confirmed my fears. You got through it. DD hammocks do a small tarp called a Magic Carpet. Small but may help of slightly bigger. They may be dear but well made. If you do think of one, get it pre corded up ( look at some bushcraft films) then you can just deploy it asap. Well done and take care Grant 😀
Ace vid, looks super fun!!!, those cycle paths amazing!
Useful info for camping 🙂 I will have to do that in southern France, but in winter. What's the 3d map you've used that shows a cyclist riding A to B?
A video that feels like a memorable stage of a bikepacking journey: emotions at every turn! That nighttime wake-up call from the police must have been like an unexpected obstacle on the route, the kind that makes your heart skip a beat. Greetings from Italy!
Good stuff !
Great video. What does it say about those trying to get to the UK when the police were as concerned for your safety as they were 😬
Well done. Very interesting journey.
Wow what a trip!
Sister Sienna here – love your videos brother! Keep up the good work ❤😊
Inspiring stuff mate. Hoping to do the same very soon, just wondered how you got back over to England at the end, did you take a ferry back from Amsterdam? And how much did it cost for the ferry to France? Cheers buddy ride safe!
peanut butter and jelly burritos … yes, real flour tortillas 😂
Quality video mate
I really enjoyed this video. I liked the wild-camping segments the best! Cheers RK from Bonn, Germany
