I needed to get to Amsterdam + love an adventure = The title of the video.

As always I’m a big fan of budget travel, I brought a tent a gas cooker and set off on this adventure from London to Amsterdam. Camping in places maybe I shouldn’t have, eating lots of pot noodle and crossing borders. This is my 6 day trip (5 day cycle) and first time solo bike-packing, Enjoy!

  1. This was quite the adventure! As soon as i saw the border related graffiti i knew it might be a sketchy spot but didn't expect Police patrols. Great video, glad i found your channel.

  2. Thanks for the video, it brought back memories! I did London to Rotterdam this summer along much the same route, but being old stayed in hotels.. in Holland a receptionist asked where I was headed the next day, and when I said Rotterdam without missing a beat she said, "Oh there'll be a headwind I'm afraid" You don't get that kind of service in England!
I also took the Dunkirk ferry rather Calais, so missed any of the problems there..

  3. i cycled this trip/route to bruges for a pint at the end of this summer and after watching this i feel to go again. well done though i know how hard it is to get the miles in everyday and sleeping in sketchy spots.

  4. Great trip, but that sleeping spot in France was sketchy! Also it's a shame you didn't ride the coast-route through the dunes in Holland. That's one of the best bike paths in the country

  5. dude after watching this I'm on komoot rerouting my trip planed for next year (hook of holland to le mont saint michel) I was wondering about migrant routs thru calais and where to camp, this year while in Germany camping wild I had wild boar screaming and running past my tent all night,….Id rather that any night 😅😬.

  6. Hi Ruben, great film. I've had a look around those Bunkers, unfortunately you confirmed my fears. You got through it. DD hammocks do a small tarp called a Magic Carpet. Small but may help of slightly bigger. They may be dear but well made. If you do think of one, get it pre corded up ( look at some bushcraft films) then you can just deploy it asap. Well done and take care Grant 😀

  7. A video that feels like a memorable stage of a bikepacking journey: emotions at every turn! That nighttime wake-up call from the police must have been like an unexpected obstacle on the route, the kind that makes your heart skip a beat. Greetings from Italy!

  8. Inspiring stuff mate. Hoping to do the same very soon, just wondered how you got back over to England at the end, did you take a ferry back from Amsterdam? And how much did it cost for the ferry to France? Cheers buddy ride safe!
