Hey guys I was thinking of upgrading my 80s Miyata and was wondering if shimano dura ace 7900 was compatible with mavic aksium race wheels and most important that entire setup being compatible with the 80s Miyata frame? I also found some mavic cosmic carbone. What wheel set would be a better option for the Miyata? What are some things I should look out for?

I don’t really know, I may do a similar modernization on the future, but haven’t done so yet.
I guess some things to consider are:
Wheel hub spacing needs to work with the old bicycle. I believe the Miyata probably would have had 126mm rear spacing, Google says that is a ten-speed rear derailleur, but I’m getting mixed results in what the hub spacing would be for that. If it’s 130mm you can probably get the wheel in and out with just a little stretching, if it’s 135mm you may have to cold set the rear to be wider.
The front derailleur doesn’t come with a clamp, so you’ll have to see if you can find a clamp-on derailleur mount (idk if that exists or not?) Or perhaps you can find a clamp-on FD that uses the same cable pull ratio as the Dura Ace?
I also don’t know if you can get a cable stop for the shifter cable that works with the old top-mounted shifter boss?
By all means if you already have the answers to these let me know, I want to learn more about this for one of my own vintage bike.
