Is that ferrule at the back actually stepped? It kind of looks like not in which case it could pull through under braking force. You can get stepped ferrules but the cable guide has to be raised off the tubing a bit in order to accept it.

You can buy these but the biggest diameter needs to be bigger than 5mm or it will pass straight through the cable guide. Just search stepped ferrules on ebay

  2. If that’s your bike, you should have a full run of cable housing. No need for the ferrule except at the very end, and even then you might not need them.

But if you do actually have a use for them, your LBS would probably give you a few for free if you don’t need a metric shit ton. If you live near me, I have a bunch you can have for free.

If there’s a bike shop near you, they probably have a bucket of a thousand of these.

  4. Ferrule. As far as I know shifter cable and break cable ferrules comes in different sizes (in diameter). Less than a dollar a piece sold at bike shops.

  5. Op you just don’t want to listen to anyone else do you? As in your post from 5 hours ago you need cable housing all the way through on this bike….

  6. Shoutout to the Zefal HPX frame pump – mine is still going strong after some 25-30 years.
