Want to preface this by saying I know little to nothing about bikes, but I’ve definitely gathered from other posts that Huffy is not the way to go. However, I’m using this simply as a commuter bike and will be riding entirely on roads with bike lanes. Super easy and smooth commute, only 4 miles to work and back, five days a week. Would really really love to go as cheap as I possibly can without the bike breaking down in a couple weeks, ideally would keep it <$100. These are all on FB Marketplace and are described as having no functional issues. All are 26” and I’m 5’11, 190lbs if that’s relevant. I won’t be commuting forever, will likely leave my current job and no longer commute when I graduate in December of 2025. Thoughts? Can provide more pictures from listings if that’s helpful at all.

  1. For commuting, no suspension. Get a rigid road bike. At this price point suspension is just heavy garbage that doesn’t work. So I’d none of the above.

Get a road bike and get one with thin slicks. It’ll make your journey MASSIVELY easier.

  2. They are basically all garbage, I’d try to find a used road bike from 1992-2020 with Shimano 105/Tiagra/Ultegra and replace the tires with 28mm in the back, 25mm in the front.

It would make a super fun bike and its the best for commuting as you can easily take it in a train and it is lightweight.

A road bike is even even in bad weather, I rode mine through 8cm snow and a small snow storm this year

Alternatively a trekking bike like the Swinn/Bicicleta (italian for bice) with some conti contacts

  3. only bike that would make any sense of this selection is the schwinn. If everything works, it can be a decent commuter. The others are a massive nope.
