  1. You can reinstall it, no harm done.
    The metal pin does into a hole in the cranks axle.
    The full hole has the inside crank pinch bolt pass through it, and it pivots around that bolt to click on and out of place

  2. It’s a spacer that goes between the two ears of your crank arm. Lose the bolts and install per instructions for the crankset. It’s not broken.
