just got my new liberty nemesis v1 and is very new to fixed gear. I added the straps on the pedal but usually only put my right foot in while my left foot remains free. I can skid pretty comfortably by pushing on my left foot and pulling on my right foot. should I just remove the strap on my left pedal as it is kinda useless

Its better to keep it on because if you have to stop and its not your right foot in front youre gonna be in a funny situation
Edit: and also i would recommend practising skids with your left foot forward too
I would suggest getting comfortable getting your foot in the strap offf the go – practice until you can do it without looking. I’ve ridden would straps for as long as i’ve been riding (about 12 years) – there’s never a point in riding fixed where you want the bike to be disconnected from you unless you’re bailing – but even then – straps will prevent you from becoming a projectile.
No it’s fucking retarded
The straps are not just for skidding. You use your foot retention when accelerating and when slowing down. Use both & ride more.
Well you can if you aren’t ambidextrous in skidding and skid-hopping. And if you don’t care that one strap on a bike looks wack AF.
Had a pal that only had 1 strap, its fine
Straps are used for far more than just skidding. You’ll do yourself a massive disservice by only riding with one strap. You’ll lose a ton of bike control and power. Don’t do it.
