on a new bike and then ive noticed when i’m in lowest speed (1) max gear (10 or 9) the chain folds onto its self
im no expert but i’d imagine this would definitely mess up the chain
it doesn’t let me send videos and photos together so i’ll make another post with photos
Is this really supposed to happen

btw i have a cannondale jaykll 3
Does it do this when it’s the right way up?
The chain could be too long however I’d like to see it the right way up and shifting to be certain.
Double check also the b tension bolt is correctly positioned on the derailleur.
I imagine this could be an issue if the chain is too long. You seem to have a lot of room left in your derailleur when it is on the biggest chainring
Chain is too long
Chain looks to long since the bike is new i would just take it back to the place you got it from and demand a tuneup. this is very basic and it should have been caught when taking it out of the box it makes me think they really did a half ass job with the whole setup.
Edit: to bad you dont show us what it looks like in the biggest chainring that tells us alot more than this video.
Chain is too long.
Yes, yea, yes…hmm, not really, no.. no! NOO!!!! NOOOOOO!!!!
Please post pictures with the bicycle upright and :
1. in lowest gear (largest cog)
2. in highest gear (smallest cog)
3. close-up of the contact point of the b-tension screw (usually better seen from the inner side of the frame)
Besides the chain being too long, you might have a missing or badly installed b-washer.
