  1. B 17s cost 400k at the time with a crew of 8 or so, a dehavilland mosquito cost 40k, crew of 2 with same payload and range but 170 mph faster and 15000 feet higher max ceiling, it's losses were like .5% in the whole war, b17s could expect 5-8% losses every mission and basically dropped bombs across 4×4 square mile zone on the ground and pretty much never hit a target only randomly destroying surrounding cities and infrastructure,

  2. Towards the end of the war. The airforce worked out that it would take 30 seconds for the Germans to range-find, do the ballistics calculations, fire the AA gun and for the shell to get upto such a high altitude. All the B-17 pilots had to do was to make a slight deviation in course and altitude less than every 30 seconds.

  3. the bomber fleet have a set pattern of making course changes every 5 to 10 minutes EXACTLY to avoid arriving in a flak barrage location at this delayed time between shootings and grenade explodings..
Why dont I see that here in this show ?!?!?!

  4. I can’t watch this stuff anymore. I used to be super into world war 2 on the history channel back like 20 years ago but now everything is like so unrealistic with the dei. I’m always expecting a female pilot, or a Mexican gunner, or a black lieutenant in a world war 2 setting it’s just not true and I don’t think the history channel would have told it other wise.

  6. When I watched "Catch 22" with my girlfriend, I had to explain the explosions in the air. It was so far removed from anything she'd ever thought about, she didn't get it on the first try.
They needed a scene like this, showing the guns on the ground.

  7. My mother saw as a young girl (8 years) American pilotes who were shot down over the north of Holland (Friesland), they were captured by the Germans, but the women and girls waved at them, shouted of joy of just seeing them. And then the German soldiers kicked them away.

  8. I always liked how the german crews and weapons are always noobs in every fkin american movies 😀 yeah the flak88 couldnt shoot down a single plane in the whole WW2 😀
