Any idea what would cause these bite marks? This is from this past seasons riding on at least what I thought was a properly installed and torqued rear hub and cassette. The marks are fairly consistent around the entire hub. I hadn’t noticed any issues riding really and only discovered this when cleaning components today.

That is normal on freehub bodies, especially when the freehub body is aluminum and the cassette uses steel cogs.
It’s not really cause for concern
file them down and tighten the cassette more than you think
This is liable to happen on aluminium freehub bodies as other people have noted.
The torque ratings on cassettes is very very high, upwards of 40nm, ostensibly to try to prevent this but that’s no sure prevention. It shouldn’t really cause any issues but it does bug me too. I much prefer a steel freehub body tbh.
