Hi all, I need help identifying this frame. Sadly the paint job was pretty ruined when I got it, but it featured a blue to white fade. I‘ll be doing a full frame repaint. No identifying decals to speak off apart the Panasonic lettering on the seat tube and half the logo on the head tube. Came with full dura ace 7400 and if I am reading the serial number correctly, it‘s from 1984. I‘ve looked online but couldn‘t find any blue to white fade Panasonics from around that time at all. Rear brake cable is routed internally through the top tube as well. Does anyone have an idea what model this might have been? I‘d be grateful for any pointers. Cheers!

  1. Hi, unfortunately I do not know what frame it is but just wanted to comment on how beautiful that frame is!

That looks a lot like the DX4000 from 1986 based on the catalog . I had an 86 DX5000 for a long time. A 4000 would’ve had 105 though. There is a really cool YouTube video about the Panasonic factory in the 80s and their custom paint program called PICS (Panasonic individual custom system) [here](https://youtu.be/rfAbZlqQ68o?si=Yz48RtP5b3IZO38U)

I repainted my Colnago with HOK paints – Oriental blue will match this pretty nicely. Look in my posts for pics of it if you want to see how it looks.
