For anyone who has a Shimano UN55 (English-threaded, if that matters): I just received (unbeknownst to me) a used or returned bottom bracket from a small bike shop in Maine. Are the teeth on the driveside cup supposed to be much more shallow than the non-driveside? I’m afraid if I start torquing it down, the tool will slip and make the teeth worse. I couldn’t find any head-on photos of that side to compare to mine.

That does not look like a new bb. I wouldn’t use it. It’s weird though, the spindle looks new.
