  1. This is unfortunate for those affected and could be policed better but… this has also affected less than 0.00875% of London. It is effectively 0% of the population. I doubt this is even a sizable % of violent crime in a city of that size. Maybe people need to calm down here? I feel like everyone is looking for a reason the world sucks when it really is not as bad as it seems. At all.

  2. Well BBC well well …. these kind of crimes are popular in London (and NOT JUST OUTSIDE LONDON). These are London gangs (very popular) who target cyclists, mopeds and motorbikes. Youtube is full of videos of the kind of crimes. Police rather wear pink and push a finger up their …..

  3. its a shame the one thing that brings us love (cycling) turns us into targets for theft. its a shame, and shame the people who attacked this woman for her bike

  4. These moped thefts are a result of England being a Muslim country now that hosts much of the third world. This would not have happened a few decades ago. Sad.

  5. I wonder if there is any link between routes published on Strava, and bikes stolen. Are users of these apps inadvertently giving away their location.

  6. Police are reactive not proactive, so if you get enough media attention they might do something. If your property gets stolen the response is ,well there's not much we can do about it ,the crooks hsve probably sold it by now ,you can fill out a stolen property report .Thats about it from the police crime solved. But if you laugh out a bit loud at the pub next thing you know the cops are beside you tell you to leave ,when you ask why , you're under arrest 😂😂

  7. The pols tell us diversity is our strength. Diversity, as in taking in hordes of migrants, raised crime rates and violence. The swells in their gated communities don’t give a damn what happens to us common folk.

  8. The criminals know there are very few police on our streets so they can do what they want. The police comments are like them poo pooing murder by saying “the vast majority of people go about their daily lives without getting murdered”.

  9. Wow! I'll add this to the long list of reasons why I would hate to live anywhere near London. I live a small provincial city more than an hour's drive from the M25. I can ride for 20 mins and I'm in the middle of nowhere with a very low population density – just tiny little rural backroads, forests for miles and a car every ten minutes or so. The kind of place where you say hello to other people that you pass because it's so unusual to see anyone else out there. The idea of living in a place where gangsters will drag you off your bike … why would anyone want to live in a place like that? I do go up to London sometimes and I can't wait to get out of it again. It's madness. Pure madness. So many people, so fast, all pushing past each other, and the constant relentless noise. It makes your head spin.

  10. You can thank the bicycle industry for over inflating the value of these bikes by possibly 600% or more! Cyclists have been duped into believing they need to spend $10K or more on a machine that isn't worth more than $3K at best. These carbon fibre frame sets are not worth the cost in manufacturing but have established themselves as comparable to gold bars! It's ridiculous, and we all have ourselves to blame for falling for it. I repair carbon framesets and own 8 bikes myself (several of which were deemed write-offs) which I repaired because the manufacturers simply mail out a new one.
So ask yourself what these are really worth if a manufacturer can send you a completely new frame for free…cause you broke your fragile POS leaning it up against a post?
The irony is, cyclists are to blame for their willingness to perpetuate this myth while they continue to pay these prices!

  11. The wonders of multiculturalism. What’s telling about this report is that there is a lot of footage of these thefts happening where you can see the peeps & let’s just say they don’t look like the natives. It doesn’t help the MET is pursuing one-sided social media threats more aggressively than crime.

  12. my bike was stolen twice this year. first time it was violent, 4 guys came and pushed me off, retrieved it without the help of police, as they did nothing since theyre useless. second time though, it got stolen when my mum rode it to work, literally a police station next to the workplace, they didnt even bother getting the security footage. seriously, if any of you think that the police will help, you need to wake up. you should be scared to ride your bike. you need to be alert at all times. ride through back streets, avoid main roads. i stay far away from main roads, i ride through routes that pretty much nobody could think of.

  13. Don't feel bad guys. Our cops over here in the states aren't worth a shit anymore either. The difference is many cyclists over here carry now like myself.

  14. The problem is bikes costing £5,000 to £10,000 (and more). Only Pro level bike are subject to this sort of attack.
If you ride a cheap bike you are pretty safe.
Lessons learned: forget about expensive pro bikes and buy and ride a cheap bike.
Ridiculous that the video article did not explain this properly.
I've been cycling all my life, four bikes in the garage, and the "most expensive" was £500. Do yourself a favor, nobody except professionals needs a bike costing as much as a car. You become a target.

  15. Lol, £10k bike frame + £2k wireless shifter + £1k groupset + £2k carbon fibre wheels…

    Riding that through London 🤣
Of course you're going to get kicked off and cheffed 🤣

Ride an old 90's steel bike and stop showing off Infront of desperate ppl with nothing.

  16. I see some comments about its because due to expensive bikes. Yes and No… Netherlands is the country with highest rate of bike robbery in Europe and they use far cheaper bikes. If robbers can get easy money and with impunity by stealing bikes they will do so. Whatever value a bike has. This happens because police doesn't take this seriously and because robbers have a market to sell the stollen bikes (and they do it, again because police do nothing about it either)
