This was not an uncommon sight in the 40s and 50s when I was a kid, before the almost universal ownership of cars and vans. It was the best way of delivering a new bike, or getting your racing bike to the venue. For all I know, it was even more common in previous years.

He’s tied the front wheel and forks of the spare bike to the back carrier on the bike he’s riding, genius 😂😂😂
