  1. What did you think of Poitiers and the surrounding area? Would you prefer rural or city? And do you think this city is big enough for you? Remember to come back for part 2 next week where we complete the series with housing, jobs, arts plus a feature on the nearby town of Chauvigny! Don’t miss that one! And make sure you’re subscribed to catch all the upcoming cities and grab your free France City Finder here, too!

  2. Well Tia, this was an eye-opener for sure! My experiences have taught me that cities with a population of +/- 100K are often the sweet spots between too little infrastructure/amenities and too much urban stress. Poitiers seems like a good example of this. And my sense is that this city doesn't have the tourist pressures that you'll find in a similarly sized place like Aix-en-Provence. I'm looking forward to the next video to find out more about Poitiers and surrounds! 😎

  3. Poitiers has an elevator in the train station parking area which can eliminate the steep climb to the old city. After getting off the train at Gare de Poitiers, follow the overhead signs toward the passenger footbridge or the main exit pointing toward Parking Toumaï / Sortie Centre-Ville. Look for the covered pedestrian walkway connecting the station concourse to Parking Toumaï (Level 1). There is no need to exit outside onto Boulevard du Grand Cerf. Inside the parking entrance lobby, you will find the public elevators and escalators. Take the elevator up to the top level (Level 5 / Niveau 5 – Viaduc).
