  1. Ortlieb quick rack. Uses the two eyelets down by the quick release and then hooks to the seat tube. Good piece of kit – lots of reviews out there.

    Also Aeroe Spider – works with aluminum/steel.

  2. As a third option you could use padded ā€˜P’ clips/clamps. The would hold the upper stays while the dropouts carry all the weight.

    Plenty of racks come with hardware to mount to the upper fender mounting hole. Another option is a Problem Solvers seatclamp with mounting holes (many lookalikes out there too).

    Old Man Mountain makes axle mounting kits both for QR and through axle. You can make them work with any rack, or you can buy his racks. I got one and it’s the most solidly built rack I’ve ever had.
