Its so nice to see posts from Bolivia! I was born in La Paz, I miss Bolivia a lot. You mentioned you will be descending the Death Road soon, I would carry a spare set of brake pads; the first time I went down that road (2005), it was raining, and the Hayes mechanical disc brakes were not up to the job, they wore down to the backing pads very quickly, and I wasn’t carrying any cargo.
The second time I went down that road (2014), it wasn’t raining, but my brakes got HOT, especially once the pavement ended, I had to stop several times to let them cool. You are going to LOVE Coroico, its quiet, beautiful, and high enough that you avoid most of the mosquitos. Its only 7 km past Yolosa (the official end of the Death Road, basically a big truck stop town), but from there up to Coroico, its a stiff climb. But it won’t be a problem after seeing what you pulled off today, congratulations! Be sure to stop by the German restaurant in Coroico called Back Stube!
