The beauty of vanlife is that the world is our playground! 🌍 And that’s exactly how we’ve been living since selling our house last year to pursue a life of full-time travel in our motorhome.
What’s not quite so beautiful is when that world suddenly turns UPSIDE DOWN…while you’re being thrown around at ´ridiculous` km/hour! 🎢😱
Yes, Leon has been pleading with us to visit Heide Park in Soltau, Germany, since the beginning of the year. And once we finally crossed into Germany, we simply couldn’t let him down! 👎🏼👍🏼
The problem? While Kristin can tolerate roller coasters (to a certain extent!), Rob simply can’t stand that stomach-dropping feeling while being whirled around at high speeds, especially several metres above the ground!
But that wasn’t even our biggest challenge.
Milena was put off the moment she saw those enormous roller coasters, and decided she wasn’t going anywhere near them. Not even the gentlest rides!
And that’s where things became interesting for us as parents. How do you encourage your children to step outside their comfort zones without pushing them too far? How do you respect their fears while helping them discover what they’re capable of?
And perhaps most importantly…what happens when the parent doing the encouraging isn’t exactly feeling brave himself? 😂
Maybe hiding our fears isn’t the answer. Maybe sometimes, learning to laugh at them is!
This video is about more than just a fun family day at an amusement park. It’s about family life, with all its ups and downs…quite literally!
