Caught out on the road by a torrential Spanish thunderstorm with my gear completely saturated, I stumbled upon a secluded, centuries-old dry-stone roundhouse hidden off a deserted track. Making the space my own for a couple of wet days, I built a small contained fire to dry out my soaked bags and ward off any unwelcome critters, while keeping a watchful ear on something mysterious rustling inside the masonry walls. From foraging wild rosemary and collecting fresh rainwater on my tarp to simply cherishing the stillness of being off-grid, this episode documents raw, unscripted nomadic life as the weather takes an unexpected turn

  3. Great to see you again and on good form.
This is how I plan to spend my retirement.
56, a bike a tarp and absolutely no plans.
Thanks for the inspiration, from one soldier to another.👍

  4. In southern France we have, what's called Borie's: a traditional, dome-shaped dry-stone hut found scattered across the countryside.
They were seasonal agricultural outhouses or shelters.
They were utilised during the 18th and 19th centuries when locals cleared the rocky landscape to plant new fields of grain, olives, or lavender. Your shelter looks very similar to a Borie, without the sods on the roof

  5. From when you first started, with wobbly camera and cut views, you have improved SO much. The cut-away to the map, showing where you are and the opening shot of rhe train were👌Bon voyage, 🥝😊

  6. Great video, it has a little stone house, a fire, getting wet and drying out. Living outside and managing that means your sorted! No worries. Sod is a piece of turf. I know that, surely you knew that didnt you?

  7. I dont want to be negative but cycling to Andorra is a crazy idea, especially if you have heart concerns. It may be a beautiful route but the road is practically vertical in places and thats some weight youre carrying. At least check the route out on satellite map first coz thats a lot of miles all uphill. I forget whether i was in a car or the truck the time i drove it but it was 2nd gear all the way and the road was closed for snow a few miles short so i had to take the tunnel & missed Andorra anyway though it was more scenic than going through the town. Coming down the other side is just as steep so I'd stock up on brake pads before you get up there. I suspect you'll end up walking most of the route with endless lorries crawling past you. 🌞

  8. Mate, you grew up in NZ so you've cycled in rain much colder than that. Meanwhile me and my pet penguin Archie definitely enjoy watching your channel and we both wish you luck 🍸🐧🇳🇿
