  1. You shouldn’t use regular cable housing for the final cable run to the rear derailleur. It’s not made to be bent in such a tight curve. You should use the extra-flexible OT-RS900 housing.

    Do the chain and B tension first. For the latter pull the RD over yourself.

    The special more flexible housing or a smoother bend woulb be preferable. But it should work

    yes if stiff it is likely brake cable housing. gear housing will have walls of striated parallel strands of steel cf brake cable housing which has a spiral of steel in the walling.

    this caters for the bending the gear cable has to do, where brake cables are often a straighter line and require more strength in the housing.
