That is an insane idea – I’ve never seen it before but I love it

Love this group. It’s never too long between whacky shit like this that I’ve never seen before…

Yesssss. The shop I worked at years ago had like four of these things. We built one wacky bike with one, and gave all the others away. I think the original ad had a guy pulling a bike out of a grave, and it said something like “Your hardtail isn’t dead”.

Did you just invent the “hardnose MTB”?

I considered getting this from the ad in the back of the Mountain Bike Action. 😅

You’ve entered the sub for whacky frames. We couldn’t ignore that, but we will love you for it.

I recently also got a new in box shockster. Bought an old suspension stem and the seller just gave it to me. Hows it feel?

I remember those when they were released. Short lived product, I wonder how many still exist.

So cool. How much longer is the wheelbase with that thing attached? And how does it perform, is the ride smoother?

I have recollections of seeing one of those NIB on clearance at a bike shop in the late 90s for something like $60.

Should be a conversation piece for an upcoming meetup. That kit seemed more workable compared to some attempts at creating an all-wheel-drive MTB at around the same time.

Trying to figure out how this even works. Does the suspension bolt through the frame dropout and then the suspension has its own drop out that the wheel mounts to? So the suspension is rigidly mounted to the frame at the dropout and brake mounts and then the wheel moves with the suspension independent of the frame?

Looks like it weights about as much as a complete bike.
