  1. Front suspension is nice because it takes away the forward momentum you get when braking. I never had rear suspension so I can’t say

  2. Never! Suspension forks were unnecessary for so many of the bikes they were sold on throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Glad the era of putting it on every non-competitive bike is dead.

Not on 13 of my 19 bikes. However, if riding on the 30 to 40 year old abandoned oil field roads here, particularly the roads that drop down 400 feet in elevation, from all those years of erosion, they’re just piles of loose rocks on top of rocks, then at least a good suspension fork is rather nice. Actually climbing is better with suspension on those roads. Got one full susser but it is a collectible in mint condition so it only goes where the trails are pristine.

  4. I just had my first experience with a Top Gun fork on an old 90s MTB, it’s actually really good.

I just grew up with old trashed bikes where the suspension forks were always dead.

But overall, you don’t need it on 95% of bikes.

  5. I don’t miss it either, I never want to go crazy with hydraulic brakes or electronic shifting, nice, precise but delicate and they require maintenance and money, better the rigid steel from the 90s, I do the maintenance myself

I like to have a little suspension to take the biggest bumps out for my old body (AMP will do), but with a high-class flexy/forgiving frame like yours I can do without…
