  1. Your gratitude for even the most common finds just overwhelms me. So many of us might just fly on by, in pursuit of the next big thing. Thank you for appreciating natural beauty. ❤ 🌳🏡

  2. Thanks guys for another getaway video for us stuck in the city life and its attachments.

As always it's lovely to follow you as you tread the unbeaten tracks.

The trees really reminded me of the ones from The Lord Of The Rings…

  3. That coastal route was beautiful. I can’t believe the colour of the sea! And those huge sprawling trees definitely give Lord of the Rings vibes. Fantastic driving as always Marianne, on the type of roads Trevor was made for ❤. You definitely deserve wine and cake for navigating those narrow stretches! Excellent filming and editing Chris. You must never change the music you use as backing. I love hearing it whilst watching your videos. 😊

  4. Gnarly trees are Pohutukawa trees known for their flamboyant shapes. They grow around the North Island coasts and have beautiful bright flame red flowers in December (Summertime) and are called New Zealand's Christmas Trees. Very tough timber.

  5. Thankyou for visiting the Coromandel area I've never been there.
I don't know if it's been mentioned to you in past comments- When driving over and around curved narrow roads, having the vehicle lights on is handy. The first thing opposing vehicles will see coming round a corner will be your lights.
You may be past Coromandel by the time you read this 🙂 Driving Creek Railway. .$57 NZ per adult Narrow gauge

  6. The Meremere Power Station was designed in the UK in the mid 1950s and commissioned in 1958. The story goes that the unsightly chimney stacks were deliberately placed on the northern side of the station so that the admin building would take all of the nice warm sun on the southern side. Thus it was built. So to this day the admin building sits on the cold shaded side, while the chimney stacks enjoy the lovely warm sun on the northern side of the power station. Unfortunately someone forgot (or didn’t know) that in the Southern Hemisphere, one drives north toward the warmer weather south toward the colder. And to your right is the eastern horizon (Sun rise) and to your left is the western horizon (Sun set). And just out of interest, the Earth is rotating clockwise beneath you in the southern hemisphere, where we look up into the centre of our galaxy. So basically the Northern Hemisphere is actually in the down-under and rotating anticlockwise.

  7. Wow Marianne ! You are soooo courageous in your driving! I have followed you guys for years, I admire that during all your trips. 🇨🇷👌🇨🇷

  8. I'm English but have lived in NZ since 1989, when I was 39 yrs old. I now live in Lower Hutt. I love it here and have watched your travels with interest. Somehow you seem to miss all the best beauty spots. I know others have shown them, but you, yourselves, are missing out on many of the best spots. I find it frustrating to watch your videos sometimes. Stay well.

  9. It is remote; you guys passed Waikawau Bay, my uncle's farm, which was converted to a DOC reserve in the 1980s. Shame that it is so cloudy; you would love it in summer. We used to get groceries delivered weekly from Coville. The Pohutukawas are amazing at Christmas in full bloom with red flowers.

  10. That wasn't the biggest waterfall, but you're right; I think it's the prettiest waterfall I've ever seen. What a place it would be for a wedding (or at least engagement pictures.)

  11. I notice a few native nikau fern trees in the bush. The gnarled trees will be pohutukawas which are covered in red blooms during summer and fondly known as the New Zealand Christmas tree.
Dogs are banned as a threat to all types of animals. On the loose they can also leave a bloodbath during the lambing season

  12. What a drive. So glad Marianne was driving and not me. The music you played near the end was much more suitable than then other also was getting tired the first music. However I think this was one of the nicest places I have seen so far in New Zealand. Please continue to show us these out of the way places. So enjoyable.

  13. The tree is NZ Christmas Tree, they flower November/ December. Pohutukawa. They are beautiful. As a Brit living here for 20 years they are something else in summer against the water.
