Three mountains, three sketchy descents and a whole load of carrying your bike. This is the 3 Peaks Cyclocross, now in its 62nd edition, and it’s the hardest race I do every year.

61km round Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent in the Yorkshire Dales. I threw away 39 places on one descent, clawed most of them back on the climbs, then had to race a fan of the channel in a sprint finish!

Thanks as always to the organisers and marshals for a great event, and ill be back for more next year.

THE BIKE:
LightCarbon gravel frameset
WheelTop GEX shifting, Spedao 10-50 cassette
Wolf Tooth 38t chainring
Superteam Gravel wheels
Pirelli Cinturato Gravel RCX, 40mm (the new 3 Peaks tyre limit)

  1. All that stone is just treacherous carrying a bike, I'm not surprised so many fell. There were quite a few parts of the trail you had the fitness to gain places but there was no hope of getting past the other riders holding you up. Another fantastic race, great performance.
That saddle 😄 bit of 242 next year I think.
You never disappoint with the quality of the films, great work.

  2. Congratulations! You are the man of steel! Raw power! Beautiful environment! Big THANKS to you, Tom! Great content! Stay safe and immensely richly blessed! /Best regards, Charles (Sweden)

  3. Did the 1984 version. Brings back the full picture. Course seems to of been tweaked a bit since then. Still riding the bike in fact a retro 531 canti job . That year was unique as they let MTBs ride it. Might of been the only time it happened . Only a few used them as it was a new thing back then. Good job any way. The secret I think is to start as near the front as you can and get a good clear run into the 1st climb . Also keep eating bits and pieces to avoid the dreaded bonk .

  4. maybe practice falling? I raced mtb and recently returned to falling off horses, and the only time I got an injury was pushing the wheelbarrow.. you defo need to learn not to stick your hands out. Don't know how I learned tho 😅 sorry

  5. great video and what a ride – I was servicing on an E bike and struggling in the wind – you guys had an epic ride and such a hard event – respect
