Chain is routed completely wrong. Did you do that or did it come out the box like that?

  2. The derailleur is rotated too far back.

It also looks like you have 2 hangers but i’m not familiar with tourney. If it came with the bike initially it’s probably supposed to be there.

Given the kickstand and color I assume this is an Ozark trail bike from Walmart? Notorious for not being assembled properly from the store. (And this one has a misrouted chain through the rear derailleur). Check out some YouTube videos on installing a rear derailleur (and bike assembly in general to double check everything). You will probably need to break the chain and install a quick link. Or take it to a bike shop and have them adjust/fix everything else that might be wrong with it while they’re fixing the chain.

Whoever installed the derailleur is a blithering idiot. It should be rotated forward/down almost 90 degrees from that position. The part where the cable clamps to the derailleur should be almost parallel to the ground, not perpendicular.

  5. The derailler attachment and the hanger should be making a straight line, not a 90 degree angle like that. If the top is zero, it is currently at 270 (9 oclock) and needs to be much closer to 180 (6 oclock) Once you detach and reassemble it, the tourney label should naturally be upright left to right and that piece (parallelogram) should be more horizontal than vertical. At that point you will need to reroute the chain so it is inside the guard for the top pulley rather than outside it. You will also probably have to reset high and low limits and cable tension.

Derailleur should be 90° from where it is.. The Shimano label should be parallel with the ground

If you bought it like this I would question everything about this bike. Take it to a shop and have a real mechanic look it over. I’m sure they will find other problems. Where did you buy it?

  8. I‘m puzzled, how could that be?

Jokes aside, the derailleur is far from properly installed. Take a look at the manual (or just any bike with a derailleur) and you’ll see right away.

That derailleur is broken. It doesn’t retain proper position. If this is new bike then use warranty.

  10. You should show this to management at your Walmart, this is set up cartoonishly poorly.
