I was leaving the library when my bike started swaying as though I'd forgotten to tighten the hinge clamps. Took a look down and on of the bolts attaching the rear frame had sheared clean off! Lucky it happened at low speed, if I had been rolling down a hill at 20mph I suspect it wouldn't have been pretty. Guess I'm taking the bus to commute tomorrow…

Yikes… that’s not what you want to see. How old is your bike?
Guess you’re right about taking the bus. If you don’t have the proper tools (and skill) yourself, this is a dealer/LBS job.
That bolt shearing off isn’t very typical, there’s a lot of these bikes around the world and very seldom does this happen….
It’s likely going to need to be drilled and an extractor used, it will be a pain though as I think that’s a red loctite location so may need heat as well.
I thought this had happened to me recently, the bike went all floppy. Turns out on the new rear triangle one side is threaded. Took it to a dealer just put it back in torqued it back up and hey presto. Hope you get sorted.
