  1. You do need to remove the bolt on the chainring side. It’s common for them to be very tight – get plenty of leverage and use penetrating oil if you have to. With the bolt removed, use a square taper crank puller to remove the arm. [This video](https://youtu.be/cPQyQnNdews?si=fIcUGGXdULxEVaAX) shows the process starting at 4:58.

  2. There are two types of crank pullers. Square taper and for Octalink/ISIS. make sure yours is compatible with square taper.

    Post a photo of your puller.

  3. Why don’t people just google “remove crank from bike” anymore? I just don’t get it.
