Finally, I have entered Peru! Following my 120km non-stop ride through Oruro and that crazy accident in La Paz, my South American journey faces its next big chapter.
Right now, I am pedaling along the stunning coastline of Lake Titicaca, heading toward Puno to prepare for the brutal 4,335m high-altitude pass on the way to Cusco.
To be completely honest, this is an absolute must-ride route for every single cyclist out there. The cycling views coming off Lake Titicaca are nothing short of breathtaking—the endless blue skies, the fresh Andean air, and the beautiful lakeside roads make every painful pedal stroke completely worth it. Peru is serving up some of the most epic scenery of this trip so far!

Breathtaking indeed! I felt misserable for two weeks only by going there by bus. How do you manage cycling in this thin air environment? Lot’s of coca tea? Mad respect!
Lake Titicaca is gorgeous! I’ve traveled Peru by foot and train, and you have some seriously stunning landscapes ahead of you. I’d love to go back with my bike!
