  1. Road biking is so dangerous. A community trail in my area is named after a young mother that was killed by a car while training. Cars and bikes don't mix! Take up mountain biking where there are no cars!

  2. Junior World Champs, not Elite World Champs. Be careful in ITT position on open roads. Relying on others (cars) to drive careful and notice you is a scary proposition. Only 2 entrancts per country. Too late to fly somone else from Belgium. A speedy recovery is wished.

  3. Time trial bikes have two hand positions. The upper bars do not have brake levers. This is why it is very difficult for the cyclist to stop. They must move their hands off the upper bar and on to the lower handlebar. For this reason, these bikes must not be ridden in group rides and the cyclist must not use the upper portion of the bar when they are riding in an area with cars. Even if drivers are sometimes careless, a cyclist has to anticipate these kinds of mistakes, because they are much more vulnerable to injury.
