Tallinn Bicycle Week and the Tour d’ÖÖ group rides that grew out of it are independent, community-driven initiatives. Their goal is to promote bicycle culture, make cycling a safe, everyday activity, and design urban spaces to be more human-centric. TBW took place for the first time in June 2011 as part of the Tallinn European Capital of Culture program. Over the past fifteen years, more than a hundred diverse cycling events have been organized. These events have brought together tens of thousands of cycling enthusiasts, helped establish the bicycle as an everyday means of transport, and built a strong, passionate community. Since 2011, the Tour d’ÖÖ night rides have taken place 85 times in cities across Estonia. These rides invite people to explore the urban environment together in a new light and within a safe bicycle convoy. These fun and awareness-raising rides are paving the way for a more bicycle-friendly Estonia.
