Stage 20 of the 2026 Tour de France was considered one of the most brutal in recent memory. I rode the stage, along with 15,000 other amateur cyclists, to see if that statement lived up to itself…

This stage of the Tour de France was ridden as part of L’etape du Tour 2026. The stage of the Tour was won by Richard Carapaz, while Tadej Pogacar went on to win his 5th Tour de France yellow jersey. This video was filmed in the French Alps, a cycling mecca with climbs and cycling hotels to help cyclists train and race in races like the Tour, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta Espana among others.

As always a fantastic video Tristan, stunning and brings back wonderful memories. And a struggle is all relative, my struggle would be your walking pace 😅.
I was fortunate enough to be in France this year and stayed in Les Deux Alpes for 2 weeks. Rode most of the climbs in the area and watched stage 19 on Alpe d'Huez and stage 20 on Galibier. Riding around there was ridiculously stunning and pure joy (and pain). Croix de Fer/Glandon i found brutal until it opened up after Lac du Maison but so stunning.
He said unfit with a straight face on top of Galibier, brother you have no idea what unfit is lol Great ride!
If a climber is calling it brutal, the rest of us have no hope! Well done.

I used to love those long, harder rides with lots of cllimbing. Unfortunately have been battling some nerve damage for the last 18 months that kept me mostly off my bike and running. Hoping i can get back to it soon.

Quality video production… nailed it mate 🇪🇺🇪🇺☀️☀️☀️🚴 I’ve ridden 90% of that course and it was one of the most challenging days of on a bike … didn’t help that a race broke out with some basque riders up the croix 🥵🥵🥵🥵 they had mad durability.. the views were stunning , I live in New Zealand now although beautiful place, you can’t beat Europe for roads and scenery best in the world 🌎 in my opinion 😀🙏 girona too …history ,culture ….bike friendly nations
Awesome video man and what an awesome event. I think you were staying in the same hotel as me before the start. I went down by bike though, never thought I'd be descending Alpe d'Huez at 6AM…it was pretty chill still. I did the La Marmotte a few years ago and this with the Sarenne was definitely a lot tougher.

Great vid and thanks for taking us along for the ride. As a more average cyclist I really like to see that you guys with the 5w/kg+ are actually human and you still have to do quite a lot of work to get to that level and stay there. Still well within the top 10% though so well done!
