What started as a completely casual, five mile spin from our apartment in Roosendaal to cross the Belgian border turned into an unforgettable cycling adventure.
Riding our Bromptons, we stumbled right into the middle of the historic 50th Edition of the Ronde van Nispen a high octane local criterium race that completely took over the village infrastructure.
In this episode, we take a look at how seamless Dutch active travel street design compares to what Glasgow is trying to achieve back home, experience a hilariously pathetic final lap bell ring, and explore why an “underwhelming” international border crossing is actually a massive victory for cycling connectivity.
We wrap up the journey by navigating through a Dutch ‘fietsstraat’ to check out Robotland and a poignant war memorial in Essen, Belgium, before taking a rural loop back to the race village and returning to Roosendaal.
