Hello! I have a 2021 Aethos with a “red ghost pearl over dune white” color way that I’m rebuilding as my “bling” bike. I’m not an artist or graphic designer, so I’m having difficulty finding the right color scheme for the components to complement the frame. I’m going to be using the D1 Red brake calipers and rear derailleur (1x setup).

I bought some blue Garbaruk and Wolf Tooth stuff that matches the hubs of my wheelset, but it doesn’t seem to match well with the red iridescence of the frame.

I also have some matte dark grey Wolf Tooth MK0 stuff but again, it doesn’t seem to blend well. Thoughts/opinions about these 2 color schemes, and any ideas on other alternatives?

I have a hard time seeing red components matching well, but let me hear your ideas. Thanks!

  1. Black or silver. Bronze might look cool.

I generally am against the ever decreasing colour palette of everything in the world today, but with bikes I’ve always thought anodised components look shit.

I would continue with the matching blue components, if you can find some (bottle cages, perhaps even chainring?) and it could work very nice together with silver components (handlebars, seatpost, silver chainring if you do not get blue).

If the blue doesn’t work good in real life, then I would go just with silver, you do not see enough silver on modern bikes, all the more so on road bikes.
