Looking to buy these matched Specialized Expedition Elite bikes. They're asking 600, but im hoping to get closer to 500.
We are currently on big box bikes that have seen better days. I currently bring my child to school once or twice a week on his "3rd wheel" tow behind, and most of our riding is on flat bike lanes and paved trails.
There isnt a ton of information on this line on the internet. Would these be serviceable upgrade from a Walmart schwinn and mountain bike? Or would these end up giving us the same frustrations down the road?

These would be great upgrade from Schwinns but have you looked into cargo bikes out can carry your child in the rear. Another option to these are Electra townies.
Huh? I e sold a million of those in 2010. They were $400 a piece new. 15 years ago
These are good bikes, and they look pretty much new. But the price is really quite high. Yes, these are the Elite model, and have trigger shift instead of twist shift on the entry level model. The tires are nicer as well. But it’s priced like he doesn’t really want to sell. $300 for both would be an excellent deal. $400 is good. More than that? Hmmm. I’d want to inspect the bikes a bit more closely if I was paying basically what they cost when new 15-20 years ago. Check the tires for cracking from age. Nitpick little scratches, probably some on the rims from hanging them. Check the plastic parts for discoloration, check if the grips are sticky and gross. Batteries functional in the computer? With the shifter try pushing it very quickly, but with little force. If the grease inside is getting sticky the ratcheting mechanism won’t engage properly.
The bikes look great, but the price is high for the age. Even if they have been sitting unused that whole time they will need maintenance to be safely ridden. Brake pads can dry out as well. Material break down sitting.
